Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness

is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence.
These three aspects are listed among the "inalienable rights" of man.

Crescent City Art Project (CCAP) introduces the “The Equality Mural Project”. This is a Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) community-driven event that would serve to impact the nation’s movement towards equality amongst all Americans. The concept is to create multiple painted images to display publicly in support of the “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” of every American.

It has been determined that the projects will be multiple mural locations (TBD) in major cities across the country.

Why art and why murals?

Ideally we would like to see public equality events/march coordinated with a mural creation, essentially stamping each event with a lasting image. I believe it will also provide a larger sense of community amongst the LGBT and their friends. We would look to local artists to create imagery.

Murals are high profile images, improving the environment in which they are created.  CCAP will not place any obscene or inappropriate imagery anywhere.

We believe family values and equality are not mutually exclusive but forever linked. Our work always keeps the community in mind.  We would look to local artists to create imagery but have final say in what is displayed.

Murals can be portable images that can be displayed at multiple locations or they can be created on wall space donated by building/shop owners.  Our signs can stay and be a part of the community.

I can’t draw or paint!
No problem, we pre-sketch images so volunteer work in a color by number environment. We will have local artist on hand to help.

How do we pay for this?
Donations are solicited from all sources.  The greater the number of organizations involved, the larger the audience.   The larger the audience, the greater the number of companies that will participate.   Individuals attending the painting event may also donate. There is also the option of individual donations at marches and protests.

How are donations handled?
All Donations are given to the Art Miles Mural Project (AMMP)/United Nations
Association of San Diego (UNA USA San Diego) and earmarked for CCAP.  AMMP serves as CCAP fiscal agent.
